Take Your Passion For Photography To The Next Level
The Lawrence Photo Alliance (LPA) was founded in 1984 to serve as a network for sharing interests, skills and tips, to organize exhibits, and to promote the art of photography. The original group had 20 members. Today’s members are not only from Douglas County and the Kansas City area but from all over Kansas.
The Lawrence Photo Alliance provides people interested in photography with opportunity for group interaction, networking, community involvement, exchange of technical and artistic expression, and exhibition of their photographic works.
We meet monthly, usually on the first Tuesday of the month, to learn more about, participate in, and share photography.
Monthly LPA Meeting
The programs of the Lawrence Photo Alliance are held at the Lawrence Art Room, a small gallery room. After announcements and a bit of planning discussion, our program will deal with some of the practical matters we all face. LPA members will give a presentation on framing, mat cutting, dry mounts, equipment, pricing and vendors. They will bring in their mat cutter and heat press, and various samples of materials. Others can join in with their experiences and questions on these topics.
The last 30 minutes or so of the meeting will be our usual “show and tell” session, so be sure to bring your latest (or not latest) work!
A new event, the Lawrence ArtMakers will be held at the Lawrence Art Room on 3rd Saturdays from May through September, 2018. For info on the web about exhibiting at or browsing the ArtMakers keep visiting lawrencephotoalliance.org.
The Lawrence Art Room shows currently feature the works of Simon Green at both branches, and James D. Roberts at the larger branch.
Congratulations to Mary Winget, who received the third place award at PhotoShow event 2016 for her body of work using the bromoil process.
