Helpful Tips For Dealing With Stress

There are many different kinds of stress a person can experience.  It can come in good and bad forms and can cause different kinds of reactions to the body.  It can affect the body and the mind.  Stress can also affect your immune system and when your immune system is compromised your are likely to get sick more often.  There are natural things you can do to help to control your stress.  First you must learn to recognize when you feel stress coming on, notice the changes in your body.  Does your heart rate increase?  What about your body temperature?  When I get stressed out my body temperature starts to rise.  Do you lose your appetite or start to feel sick?

When you start to feel stress coming on the best thing to do is to take a moment and breathe.  5 minutes of mindful breathing can help to decrease stress levels.  Try to find a space where you can be uninterrupted, even if it is a trip to the bathroom.  Take a few moments to close your eyes and take some mindful deep inhales and exhales.  Once you are able to step out of the situation you can think more clearly on how to tackle the situation.  Breaking a problem down into smaller tasks can always help to relieve stress.  I am a true believer in asking for help with a problem or delegating smaller tasks to others.  Remember you can’t always control everything or every situation, however you can control your behavior.  Don’t let stress control you, be in control over your stress.

Did you know stress can also cause subluxations in your spine.  A subluxation is an area of the spine that shifts and causes compression on your nerves.  Depending on which nerves are compressed it can cause other symptoms in your body.  Getting adjusted with your local San Deigo Chiropractor can help to correct any subluxations in the spine.  Many San Diego Chiropractors also recommend getting massaged at least once a month.  This will help to keep the muscles knot free and also help with blood circulation.
